Gary Alipio wears a lot of hats: a Children’s Book Author, Digital Marketer, Photographer, SCBWI Advisor, LDWF VIP Aquatic Instructor & High School Bass Coach.
A New Orleans native, Gary has now has three children’s books to his name (#3 Craziest Cajun Football Tale coming out fall of 2025). Growing up, Gary was the quiet kid with an overactive imagination who could always make friends laugh by making up stories. So it’s no coincidence that he now writes funnies, creepies and crazy tall tales for middle grade, tykes and everyone in between.
Gary is also a Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries VIP Aquatic Instructor (fishing), a high school Bass coach for Academy of the Sacred Heart, a teen/daughter chauffeur and is a daydreamer with a library filled with oddities and figurines. Gemini by birth, yat by the grace of God. His home sweet home is never too far from New Orleans.
A graduate from Louisiana State University with a BA in Journalism, Gary’s also an Assistant Regional Advisor of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). As a marketer, he has worked on several high-profile clients for 25+ years and says workin on and naming rollercoasters for Six Flags triggered his interest to take writing for kids serious.
